Answers to quiz
Answers:
1) The day of the ceremony, June 29 was the feast day of two apostles and martyrs, Sts. Peter and Paul, and red is the liturgical color for the feast of both martyrs and apostles.
2) The only non-Irish bishop of New York so far was John (or Jean) Dubois, who was French and served from 1825-1842. He led the diocese during a very difficult time, marked by trusteeism and anti-Catholic bigotry. But the one thing for which he has been best remembered is that he ordained the the priesthood a young immigrant seminarian from Bohemia who would eventually become bishop of Philadelphia and today is honored as a saint — John Neumann. Bishop Dubois had a fascinating life story.
3) From what I was able to discover, Archbishop Vigneron is the only one of the new archbishops to have his own blog — though Archbishop Dolan is thinking of starting one (he would be great at it).
On the other hand, Pope Benedict has a blog, and Cardinal Rigali of Philadelphia is putting up videos of his musings on YouTube.
