Thanks for the support. I'd be very interested to know how the new movie version handles this aspect of Huxley's work, if it includes it at all.

Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World' amazed me. You bring up a significant point, which observation and research is bearing out.
Anne Glasier, a long time proponent of hormonal contraception has published some research showing failure of the social experiment. At least some credit goes to her for exposing the fact that ready availability of the morning after pill, (for one example) has not reduced the demand for abortion, and has in fact been associated with an increase in demand.

The thing is, this is not a book review, nor do I state that it is. It's what you call reporting. I took what information was available and commented on it. I didn't have the time to read the book, and I see no reason to give any money to Mr. Brown by buying it, since had trashed Christians and the Church on many occasions.

Mr. Brown happens to have an execrable record for violating accuracy in his books (I did indeed read The Da Vinci Code, that was more than enough for me), and there was no reason to believe that this one was any different - huge numbers of secular reviewers commented about Brown's mistakes in science and other matters in The Lost Symbol. So I did have good reason for what I said.

I think if you want to find out everything that is in the book, you should a) read an actual review b) read the book.

For your loyal readers who have faith that you will tell them about a book there interested in you place a review without even reading the whole book, its context OR placing references from the book in question (Pslams 82:6 for example).
Myself,a family christian, looking for answers from more experianced christians was a past time that got me exited, it still is but reading biast, uninformed opinions like yours... I cant believe your rambling would be allowed on a website at all, eg.the following example
"I’m sure the book is filled with tons of mistakes in geography, history, the nature of the Freemasons and just about anything else you can name."
FYI, if at all this was a book review, what your sure of, does not matter, nor do you opinions

I can't agree with you more! Twisting history to entertain is becoming a pandemic in Hollywood. I can't tell you how many people I've interacted with who have accepted the fiction of the Da Vinci Code as fact.

I am not even a Catholic and I am appalled by the way these books have distorted the history of the church and as a result the history of Western thought.

Everyone I know who has uncritically read Browns books or seen the movies becomes an intellectual hillbilly, spouting fallacy as if it were historical fact.

For some reason it is easier for the human psyche to accept conspiracy theories instead of contemplating the simple truths of established history.

I discovered you blog as I was doing some research on Browns books. I can't wait to read more. Keep up the good work!

Hi Donna,

The book is Illustrissimi: Letters from Pope John Paul I. There are some used copies available on Amazon.com, and I'm sure there will be some on www.abebooks.com. That's a really great site.

Of course, if you don't want to order online, you might try a large used bookstore. If they don't have it, they might be able to order it for you.

It's a great book, and a wonderful window into John Paul I's soul. You can find more translations of his writings in The Smiling Pope: The Life and Teaching of John Paul I. Just click on the icon of the book on the lower right sidebar for a link to the book on Amazon. I'm planning on publishing more translations of his writings soon. Lori

Many years ago I read a book by Pope John Paul I (before he became a pope) about letters he had sent to famous people. I lost the book some time ago and would like to get another copy. Do you know the name of the book and where I can obtain a copy? Donna Waters
