Recently, my 89 hear old father was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. We heard the news that he had a gigantic mass on his left lung. The doctor was worried about this huge mass, which the family assumed it was cancer. I praye to Pope John Paul I and Pope John Paul II and Father Solanus Casey to please pray to the Blessed Virgin as well as to Jesus to intercede for my Dad and not make it cancer. I promised tht if my prayers were answered I would write about their assistance. After the normal test and consulting with specialists, my father's internists informed the family that it looks like my father had a former infection and the mass was probably a part of a collapsed lung, (wlhich posed no problem) and there was only 1% chance that it was cancerous. So with the help of three future saints, my prayers were answered.

Yes, that's quite a sad fact. The Landgrave in question, Philip the Magnanimous, actually helped Luther with the spread of Protestantism in Germany, and gave him shelter at Wartburg castle, Elizabeth's home. And Philip prevented his own ancestor from being venerated as a saint because it was "superstition," and as you said, desecrated her tomb.

Montalembert's book is beautiful, but written over 150 years ago. You might like to read a book I myself wrote about St. Elizabeth, based on the most up-to-date research on the documents. You can order it from www.taucrossbooks.com.

Good luck with your enterprise.
St. Elizabeht of Hungary is my patron saint and I have just finished reading her biography by the comte de Montalembert. I was saddened by the fact that her direct descendant became protestant and even desecrated her tomb.

No thanks, Jacques. If you'd actually read my post, you'd see that I am pretty much conclusively debunking this whole idea on factual grounds. I wouldn't believe it if all the "seers" from here to Lourdes were proclaiming it, because it's just not true.

The famous Catholic Austrian seer Maria Simma who was interviewed by Nick Eltz in his book "Let us get out of here" suggested that Pope JP I was murdered by freemason clerics inside the Vatican (among them a now deceased cardinal) and possibly Pope Paul VI too.
I may provide the book's excerpt if necessary

I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THIS MAN WAS A SAINT.
HIS HUMILITY SIMPLY ASTOUNDS ME.
I REMEMBER WITH SADNESS THE NEWS OF HIS SUDDEN DEATH, BUT HIS WRITINGS AND HIS MEMORY LIVE ON.

Dear Liz, I haven't really had a chance to address this in writing myself, but I do think that Papa Luciani summed it up beautifully above. Suffering, in essence, is part of the Pope's job. I'm not sure where to tell you to go, but there might be something more in a good biography of this pope. They have started the process for his beatification as well. Lori

In my reading and prayer, I have been reflecting on the sadness of Paul VI. Is there such a theme anywhere in your or others' writings?
