In celebration of the bicentennial of Sand's birth (1804-2004), a reading of Lori Pieper's screenplay The Marquise was held on December 13, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. on the stage of the ArcLight Theater, 152 W. 71st St., New York, NY.
Some very accomplished stage, television and film actors took part in the reading -- two of them (Joris Stuyck and Steven Crossley) concurrently starring in the acclaimed Off-Broadway play Guantanamo: Honour Bound to Defend Freedom.
